: How to create a Bootable USB eScan Rescue Disk :
Incase you do not have a CD-DVD ROM and want to boot the system with a usb bootable rescue disk to scan the system then follow the below procedure to create the bootable usb rescue disk.
You need to have a Windows 7 Operating System to perform the below procedure as we will be using the DISKPART utility available in windows for creating the usb stick bootable.
Open Command Prompt with Administrative privileges.
Type following command to go to the root drive and press Enter:
cd\
Then type the command:
diskpart
Diskpart will have its own console.
Once into it we need to select the disk to make bootable.
DISKPART>list disk
List of disks will be display.
Select your disk by following command.
DISKPART>select disk #
Where # should be your disk number
Now we need to clean the disk. Note that all the data would be deleted including the existing partitions.
DISKPART>clean
We now have a raw disk. Create a partition into it.
DISKPART>create partition primary
To work on the created partition we need to select it.
DISKPART>select partition 1
Now selected partition should be marked as active for booting.
DISKPART>active
Since the partition is still in raw state, we will format it with fat32 file system
DISKPART>format quick fs=fat32
The created partition should be assigned a volume label
DISKPART>assign
The disk is ready for booting.
DISKPART>exit
Now Copy the eScan Rescue Disk ISO file in the root folder of the usb drive. The next time you boot the system it will be booted with the USB stick/pen drive.
